Osaka is one of my favorite cities in Japan. It has a great food culture, which is evident in the local expression Kuidaore, which means “to ruin oneself by extravagance in food.” Indeed, exploring food in Osaka can be endless, and there is always more to enjoy.
When I have a day or two off after a flight, I often take a train to Namba in Osaka to discover new culinary delights. I love beef. People normally associate Kobe beef with Japan. But in Osaka, Matsusaka beef is the star. It can be enjoyed at four branches of Matsusakagyu Yakiniku M restaurants in the Namba and Dotomburi areas, with each branch themed differently.
As well as the excellent beef and local beer, the atmosphere at each restaurant is incredible. Matsusakagyu Yakiniku M is highly recommended if you want some private space with friends or family. I took my family to the Hozenji Yokocho branch. We had a whole room to ourselves, and the friendly staff provided ready help and guidance with the menus. Everybody loved it, and we had a wonderful time.
